Starmer guidelines on assisted suicide February 2010Keir Starmer (Director of Public Prosecutions) published the policy after taking account of 5,000 responses received as part of the most extensive survey of public opinion on assisted suicide since the Suicide Act 1961 was introduced, which created an offence to help with a suicide liable to up to 14 years in prison. "I just want to say, again, a heartfelt thank you to you for all the hard work you have done to create the Philosophical Investigations website. Your generosity in sharing these fantastic resources is quite humbling. My teaching (and my students' learning) will benefit greatly and the resources will, I'm sure, have an impact on re-invigorating the popularity of the subject beyond AS and A2. Well done."
